Balaton cocktail

I have not posted in a quite a while now – we went on a 2 week trip to Europe, Hungary and Germany. It was a good vacation, spent about a week in Budapest, and travelled around Stuttgart for 3 days. I am still working on the photos – I took over 200 in one day just in Tubingen, which was a lovely little city. And for now here is a post made with the Hungarian liqueur Unicum, which we went to visit while in Budapest, and that is another story… It’s a nice, refreshing summer cocktail – enjoy!

unicum1 1/2 oz Zwack Unicum
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice, from 1/2 lemon
1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz dry Vermouth, like Dolin Blanc
1 tsp. orange marmalade
3 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
Soda water
Orange peel, for garnish

Combine all ingredients except soda water and orange peel in a cocktail shaker filled with ice; shake and strain into a rocks glass. Top with soda water and garnish with a twisted orange peel.
